Those inconvenient moments

Those inconvenient moments

Yesterday I went to the walk in clinic for pain and swelling behind my knee.

Generally, as a human species, we consider these types of moments at best inconvenient and toward the worse end of the spectrum anxiety producing, scary and frustrating.

But over the years I have learned that contrast - between what we would love and what we would not love, is the way Spirit instructs us to grow.

So here’s what I learned and how I handled yesterday in case it helps you

1. Mr. Rogers always said in scary situations “look for the helpers” and while this was not one of those scary/traumtic events, I find that great wisdom. I always just appreciate who shows up to help. The Nurse, PA and ultrasound tech were all A+, top notch, helpful, friendly best of the best.  Shoutout to Cody Regional Health! 👏

2. I find that when we get “stopped in our tracks” it’s actually an ANSWER to what we’ve prayed for, wondered about, meditated on or sought guidance for, not a setback. From that lens I stayed in the question of how is this moment the answer to my prayers? (Another post I’ll share the answer…so powerful!) 🥹

3. If this hand I was dealt the one I wanted, how would I be playing it? I had nearly 2 hours to myself… enter all the YouTube videos I’ve been wanting to watch! Score! 🙌

4. My word of the year is “open to receive,” something I haven’t been great at up until now. This knee injury is giving me that opportunity on only day 2 of the new year. Doctors, Cameron etc now will all support me, and I’ll get the opportunity to practice! 🥰

5. I got to see how easy it can be to still create what you want even with detours. Yestersay was day 2 of a 30 day series I started on Soul Savvy Instagram and Facebook. I could have said “see, Ugh! Right when I get started I have a setback.” But it’s actually not that at all. I simply just brought my “jar” with me and recorded in the car after I left urgent care. Not perfect lighting. Not the time I wanted to post, but who cares?! I still did it and it still helped people 🎉

6. Surgical shorts are super comfortable. It was tempting to keep them. The nurse must have read my energy because she said “Sure you don’t want to keep them?” 😂
